PJ's Kitchen: The Design

I have been thinking for some time now that I would like to have a bakery. I have not decided where, but it will be called PJ's Kitchen and my sister will design the sign. She has sent me some sketches and I have fallen in love with them.

Probably this will not happen in the near future. I need to take business classes and save up some money, but this is my dream. I have to ask Cupcake's opinion about the red, I can't decide if I want a touch of color or not.

An Exploit: My New Home

My mom thought I should take pictures of my new home, sans furniture. This is easy since it's not going to get here for a few more days. So far I've spent about 5 nights here with only an old army trunk for furniture.

I do have some furniture in storage, awaiting movers, and I went shopping for some of the things I was lacking, such as a chair.

In my last apartment I used a rocker hand-me-down. I absolutely hated it. It was a horrible brown with the head of a horse stitched on the back. It also had wooden armrests which were always sticky because of the finish. I was very excited to be able to find one that I liked and is mine-all-mine.

When I started looking, I found a chair online. I didn't look at dimensions, and aparently I didn't look very closely at the chair itself. I went through 4 stores before I found a salesperson I was willing to talk to, and was willing to help me. She was kind enough to listen to my description of "the chair" and look all over the store. When we didn't see anything remotely like "the chair" we looked at lots of catalogs. We finally found one that was quite close to the one in my head. So I had to order it.

I did go back later an look at the one on the computer later. It was not remotely like what I had described, but it was inspiration...somehow.

By the way, I also got a dining set.

While I was at my last rig the furniture fairies came and delivered my table, so my flat is not entirely empty, just mostly.

This Time I Had Almonds: Curried Chicken Salad

I just had some Curried Chicken Salad and it was amazing, so I thought I'd share it again. One small change was the Almonds I used, rather than Pine Nuts.

The Adventures of an Empty Kitchen
I went to the store today for a few things, such as apples, and bread. I ended up getting a lot more than I expected. I couldn't live with an empty kitchen anymore (I've been in my new apartment for 5 days now!). So I got some things that will not go bad, that every kitchen should have: Flour, Sugar, Brown Sugar, Cocoa, Spices, and Canned Goods. I also got some chicken and mayonnaise, thinking I would make the lovely meal above. I got home and started cutting apples, and celery, and carrots when I realized "I don't have a bowl for this!" Ok, I'll make due with the tupperware that I got the celery and carrots in. "Wait a second, I don't have anything to stir it with." That one took a bit longer, but finally I figured out I had some measuring spoons that would probably work. I did end up getting pretty messy in during this adventure, but that's what makes it an adventure, right?

Baked Apples!

I finally cooked something! Living in hotels for the past...1,2...4, 5 1/2 months has been pure torture. Of course I still don't have a place, but I used Claire's. She as a gas stove, and I'm a little bit jealous. I really want to be able to use one for a while to see how they work. But for now I'll have t make due with Baked Apples.

I got some LOVELY Fuji apples at the store for my little sister. Then I remembered she only eats Granny Smiths. Shoot. But it just so happened that I got some Old Fashioned Oats and some brown sugar. Mmmm....

Baked Apples

Approximately (I just dumped stuff into the bowl)
1 c Brown Sugar, loose
1 c Oats
1 t Cinnamon
1/2 t Cloves

Butter

Turn the oven on to 400*. Mix the sugar, oats, cinnamon and cloves. Halve and core an apple, and place on a cookie sheet, or a bread pan ;) (I left the rest for Claire to use whenever she wants, but you could probably get 3 or 4 apples out of this batch) Spon the mixture over the apples until the cut surface is covered. Top with about 1 teaspoon of butter. Place in the oven for about 15 minutes, or until you can smell them cooking.

ENJOY!

An Exploit: Sky Diving, Take II

So, I went SkyDiving again. We were supposed to go as a big group(7) again. Unfortunately I've learned this week that boys are not very reliable. They are never there on time, and half the time they don't even tell you when they decide to postpone a trip for a week, ie. skydiving trip. So Mariel and I conned Taras into driving us down since I won't be around for "next week's" trip.

We ended up having a lot of fun. And got some good studying in as well. Oh, and some pretty fantastic Barbecue Chicken Pizza! (On the list of things to try to make!)

Practicing pulling the rip cord

Getting ready for spins!

Taras is jealous of our jump, and Mariel is practicing for formations

We're all set, just waiting for the "newbies"

Ooh, ooh, ooh formation time!

Practicing some more for formations.

I am setting a new fashion statement, these glasses are going to be all the rage next season

Waiting for the plane. The lady in the middle is Scooter, I jumped with her.

Coming in for landing!

"It was a GREAT jump!"

PS. I have more pictures, but the Internet was being stupid.

An Exploit: SKYDIVING

This weekend I did the craziest thing I have ever done. As my sister said, "I can't believe the girl afraid of roller coasters jumped out of a plane!!" I agree. I hate roller coasters, that feeling when your stomach is no longer in your stomach, but up where your tonsils should be...

PS I was terrified, but every one else was doing it, so...
Mariel has done this before, can you see how much more scared I am?

Skydiving class, they teach you how to pull the cord, at least that's what I think they said.

Trying to ease the tension.

3 Classes worth of crazy people from all over the world.

Please do not walk your dog here, you might be hit by a person with a parachute and break your leg

Our plane!

The evolution of flight, in the diner where everyone had PIZZA before jumping out of a plane. gosh

The list, We're up next!

Alexander, the crazy Russian. He likes me for my camera and my phone.

Chris, he wants to look like this is an everyday thing. Really he's just as scared as the rest of us.

The First Group, WE'RE ABOUT TO FLY!

Suiting up: James
Sergio

Deisy

Rosalba

We sat on Styrofoam blocks on the way up. Shoot it's about time!

AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I had no idea which way was up or down, I think we spun a lot here, but the video doesn't show that.

120 MPH!

They tried to get me to blow kisses at the camera, but it's really hard to move your arms when you're going that fast!

That's a long way down!

We just fell for 60 seconds! 8000 feet!

OMG WE MADE IT!!!
The roller coaster feeling -- not there. It was so much better than that, and all of my organs stayed where they should. My face on the other hand, tried to get back on the plane. My cheeks flapped the whole way down! Um, until the best part: opening the parachute! Wow, I'm definitely going again!

It turns out that I have no idea how to put the video I got of my skydiving trip on this little blog, so we'll have to make do with the photos. I'll keep trying, though, because it's pretty amazing!!
